Awesome that you figured out the badge -- I still haven't! Agree that Betty White is the ultimate in aging gracefully and, yes, I sadly admit I actually enjoy Dancing with the Stars too. Sigh. Great post!
Thanks, Lois! If you can, leave a link to your post here. Unless I can find it myself. p.s. - I'm glad you like Dancing with the Stars, too. Too bad about Dorothy Hamill last night. :)
Yes, I am also a bit shocked a times that I'm middle aged. If I catch a quick glance in a mirror, I think, "What is my mother doing in town unannounced?" But then when I shelf all that and embrace the opportunities of my age, I feel invincible! I like your observations about how to avoid conflict. Going with the flow has its advantages. Thanks for your post. (I love DWTS, too. Go Kellie and Derek!)
Kellie, she's wonderful! What a surprise. The whole show is just cheesy fun. Thanks, Karen, for your comment. I will try to find your post, if you wrote one.
Ha! You hit the nail on the head my friend....Starbucks, cetaphil....target....It's the little things in life....and I enjoy it more than you can know....oh wait...you DO know!
I am soooooo much younger on the inside too and I hope that she will always be there. I am a DWTS die hard fan too - so sad to see Dorothy have to leave! Great post!
Barb - I tried to copy and paste the code here but Blogger wouldn't let me. If you go the the Gen Fab Facebook group page, it's in one of the posts but you'll have to scroll through a bunch to find it. If you can find it, and you have Blogger and still need help, let me know. I can walk you through it.
Dancing with the Stars? Please, I've been watching NCIS with my mom for the past week and a half.....and liking it. I'm pretty sure if I took one of those "real age" tests that would add a decade right there.
I think you did just great - with or without a badge and going along with the crowd! (I'm either 20 inside, or possibly 28, or both. Of course, I was taller then, but I have better shoes now.)
As for this "midlife" thing or "middle-age" thing... It all seems so fifties or sixties (or seventies) somehow. I'm more comfortable with marketing demographic segments ("check your box... 35-45, 45-54, 55-64, etc...."), and not wild about labels of any sort unless they're on mailing labels on packages headed to exotic places and people I love, or showing up at my door from people who love me...
I love shoe shopping therapy. I also like those marketing demographic segments - being in an age range is better than being a label. Or the actual age depending on where you are in the range! Thanks for stopping by.
Dear Betty, Yeah, yeah, we know you look great, all rockin' it at 90+ with your "Hot in Cleveland" and "Off Their Rockers." Cut it out, you're making me look bad! Here I thought I was doing well, with my Meals on Wheels and remembering to take my Miralax most days, and then I snap on the TV (so proud I've figured out the remote!), and there you are, all "bubbly" on Regis and Kathie Lee. (I know,it's not Regis and Kathie Lee anymore...by daughter keeps nitpicking this one, too.) Couldn't you have just hung up your hat on "Golden Girls" and let it be?
Rusty after Golden, Betty White (no, I'm not you, it's just a popular name for our generation. I hear it's on the rebound, all "retro" and everthing!)
Pam, I can't get my head around this age thing either. I am stuck at about age 10. I remember crying at my 11th birthday that I just did not want to grow up. In some ways I never have. Staying a kid at heart keeps me feeling young except in my joints.
Pam, I also like DWTS! I think we should pat ourselves on the back every time we master a new technology. It doesn't come naturally to us as it does to our children, so we should be proud when we figure it out!
Helen, you are right! We should! And often, it's deceptively simple. I think I expect it to be so much harder than it actually is. It's the 'newness' of it that intimidates.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad Andy Dick wasn't eliminated. I think he's funny.
DeleteI am with you...the badge just has me dumbfounded...in fact I cannot find it anymore. where is it?

ReplyDeleteNCIS - ha! Isn't that like the Murder, She Wrote of our times? (Although, have to admit, I loved it.)
DeleteFun! Thirteen with less insecurity sounds about right for many of us.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not alone! Thanks.

Wistful sigh. (Shoe shopping therapy?)

Deb? Is that you? Huuuuh? Don't have my hearing aid on today. Anyway. My mom's name is Betty. The name is on the rebound? I could dig that. :)

Ha! Ten's a happy age. Eleven, things are a' changin'. Kind of like now. :) Thanks, Pat.
DeleteI'm stuck at 17, myself. Old enough to be hot and have sex, but SOOOOOO immature!
ReplyDeleteMy mirror, however, has a different opinion about my age. As do the people who expect me to pay my bills and behave like a responsible adult.
I've learned to fake it.
Ha! 17 is a good age to be stuck in. That's when my Dorothy Hamill haircut was at its finest.
